Upper Moreland soaring to new heights

- Staff reports

The Upper Moreland boys track and field team is 1-1, with a win over New Hope-Solebury and a loss to William Tennent.

Senior Aidan Rollinson is having a very good start to his senior year. He is currently undefeated in the league this season in the shot put and discus.

Rollinson now holds the UM indoor and outdoor school shot put record and is co-holder in the discus. His discus throw of 138-9 also qualified him for the District One championship meet.

Other boys having solid seasons thus far are MyKel Hudson and Stephen Broaderick in the sprints and Jeff Lauture, Roman Hopson-Clayton and Brendan Cartin in the 400.

Mehki Lyles and Colin Graham have the potential to be near the top of the league in the long, triple and high jumps. Also in the hurdles UM has four student-athletes that should earn points at champs and could be in the battle for medal contention (top 3), and they are Brennan Flaherty, Ryan Swedberg, Fritz Clement and Liam Hawk.

The girls are 2-0 on the season with wins over New Hope-Solebury and William Tennent. Senior Gabby Teel has qualified for the District One championship meet in the triple jump (she finished 2nd last year at districts) and sophomore Brooke Lobban qualified in the long jump.

There are a few others close to making districts on the team — freshman Angie Manila (javelin)
