Michael G. Adgie, Sr.
Michael G. Adgie Sr., 67 of Ambler, died August 3 in the Woodland Creek
Memory Care Community in Dresher with his loving family by his side.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William and the late Mary (nee Burns) Adgie.
Mike met the love of his life Eileen “Pat”, on a blind date at a New Year’s Eve party. They were married at St. Joseph’s Church Warrington in 1979. They were married for 32 years until Pat’s death on September 22, 2011, after a long battle with ALS.
Mike was a graduate of the 1973 Class of Springfield High School. He went on to attend the Montgomery County Municipal Police Academy graduating in 1981.
He was a Whitpain Township Police Officer, serving duties as patrol officer and detective, for 29 years. He retired from the police department in 2010.
Mike was a member of Flourtown Fire Company & Wissahickon Fire Company, Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 14, and St. Anthony of Padua Church.
At home, he enjoyed camping trips both as a Scout Master for various boy scout troops and with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his family by taking them on trips to Ocean City, NJ.
He enjoyed collecting model firetrucks and police memorabilia. His favorite family traditions were making cinnamon bread at thanksgiving and decorating cookies at Christmas. Mike loved listening to The Beach Boys, Elvis, CCR, and Billy Joel. He loved supporting and complaining about all Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Flyers.
Mike would relax with a good cigar, beer, or Jack Honey.
He is survived by his beloved children Michael G. Adgie Jr. and his wife Maureen “Mo” of Plymouth
Meeting, PA, Catherine M. “Casey” Adgie of New Castle, DE, Kelly A. Urban and her husband Peter Jr. of Ambler, PA. and Therese E.” Tess” Adgie and her husband Bryan Sotnyk of Philadelphia, PA. He is the cherished grandfather of Kaiya E. Adgie, Emilia
Q. Adgie, Diana K. Adgie, Meredith E. Urban, and Peter A. Urban III. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and his sister Maryanne Wilson.
Mike’s Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 10th at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
