Howl-OWeen pet parade to benefit dog rescue

GLENSIDE >> The Downtown Glenside Foundation is hosting the HowlO Ween Promenade featuring a dog costume parade on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise funds for dogs in need of homes.

Dogs are invited to strut down Wesley Avenue in costumes (costumes optional) to win Best Costume, Best Strut, Best Trick, and Waggiest Tail. Dog check-in is from 11 to 11:45 a.m., with the costume parade commencing at noon. Judges from Downtown Glenside include Commissioner Matt Areman, Ward 1; Scott Lynch, Fire Marshal, Cheltenham Township; Sgt. Jeffrey Murphy; Lamar Smith, owner, Dreams Ice Cream, and Maureen Haff, president, Downtown Glenside Foundation and owner of Sweet Magnolia.

No dog is needed to enjoy the fall fun for the whole family featuring live music from the Planets, pet vendors and family activities. Kids can make treat bags and take them to businesses in downtown Glenside handing out treats in the spirit of Halloween.

Sweet Magnolia is creating gift baskets for the winners. A $10 fee per dog is required to participate in the pet costume parade to help dogs and raise money for the Home at Last Dog Rescue in Lansdale. Visit DogHowl.eventbrite.com and register online, and RSVP at the Facebook event.
