Bring in spring with free event on Botanical Illustration
On Saturday, April 6, Pennypacker Mills is hosting a free presentation on botanical illustration.
Scientists and artists alike are welcome to stop by the Classroom Building at 1 p.m. on April 6 for a free presentation on botanical illustration. The presentation will define botanical illustration as a medium of scientific education, differing it from botanical art.
An overview of the history of botanical illustration and its important practitioners will be given. Techniques used by contemporary botanical illustrators will be explained and resources for botanical exhibitions and instructions will be shared. The presentation will close with brief drawing exercises.
The presentation will be led by Sharon Gross, a volunteer Penn State Master Gardener since 2005. She is also an artist and currently serves as the president of the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators.
Pre-registration is preferred. Please call 610287-9349 to pre-register.
This presentation is free with a suggested donation of $2 per person.
