MILTON - Mrs. Mildred Herring departed this life on Saturday October 7, 2023 at Vassar Medical Center in Poughkeeps­ie, NY. She was 87 years old. Mildred was born on Sepetember 27, 1936 in Elizabetht­own, NC, and was the daughter of Esther Louise Autry-McLean and Lency McLean.

Mildred enjoyed working for many years in the Human Services field, as a Family Care Provider under the auspices of the NYS OPWDD.

Survivors include daughters Annie Herring-Wellington (Rudolph) and Lorena Herring-Neal (Craig), both of Kingston, NY and a son, Aubrey L. Herring of Highland, NY; three siblings, Mozel Hayes-Kinney of Charlotte, NC, Carol Wright and Cora Jane Lee, both of Elizabetht­own, NC. Seven grandchild­ren: Shawn Leron Boone (Nicole) of Indianapol­is, IN, Tasha Herring of Fishkill, NY, Aubrey Lee Herring II of Orlando, FL, Lashanda Renee Herring of Milton, NY, Aleesha Lee Herring of Lumberton, NC, Allyxzande­r Le’Jon Herring of Durham, NC, and Andrew Coleman Wellington of Kingston, NY. Thirteen great-grandchild­ren: Nyree Nicole Mont, Tyrese James-Jordan Mont, Amiyah Nicole Boone, Shawn LeRon Boone Jr., Elaeleh Genia Herring, Trystan Izayah Herring-McIntyre, Karson Herring-McIntyre, Amari Boone, A’sana Catalia Chrystina Wellington, Ayden Herring, Taj Elijah Herring-McIntyre, Augie Herring, Andrew Coleman Wellington Jr., Ellianna Faith Wellington, One great-great grandchild: Naylani Joice Amos-Dixon. Mildred had a host of nieces and nephews, two daughters-in-law Sharon Bonita Gibson-Herring, and Teresa Hilson-McGue; Foster daughters Harriet Fitch and Cynthia Rodriquez.

Mildred was pre-deceased by her husband Mancy Coleman Herring Jr, and a son James Coleman Herring, a brother Curtis McLean, and a sister, Marietta Stowers.

Mildred was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmothe­r and friend who devoted her life to helping others, and who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. She loved children, and was well known throughout the family for her wonderful cooking, and for inviting all who entered her home, to be seated at the table.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday October 11th from 4pm – 7pm at the DiDonato Funeral Home in Marlboro, NY.

Funeral Services will take place on the weekend of October 14-15th in Garland, NC with burial to follow in Elizabetht­own, NC.
