William Albert Barr entered into the kingdom of heaven on January 1, 2024 in the evening surrounded by his loving family at St Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, New York. Known as Bill, Billy, and Uncle Bill to those who knew him best, he was born on August 8, 1961 to Lorraine S. Barr (née Giammattei) and William E. Barr and was just a year younger than his brother Timothy Patrick. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1979 and went on to attend Fordham University and graduate in 1983. From a young age he had a passion for animals, especially horses. This passion would bring him to a successful and storied career working as an equestrian instructor and coach and enjoyed sharing his work with those he loved. His niece and nephews enjoyed stories and gifts from his travels to places like Greece and London and special summer visits to the farm for riding lessons. He was loved by his many family, friends, and students. Billy is predecease­d by his beloved parents Lorraine and William and survived by his brother Timothy, his sister-in-law Susan, and his niece and nephews Timothy William, Lauren, and Patrick. He will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful person, friend, son, brother, and uncle. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, January 8 from 4 - 8 PM. A funeral home service will take place on Tuesday, January 9 at 11 AM, followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery.
