MARCY, NY - Joseph V. Mangione, 71, of Marcy, NY formerly of Monroe, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the Wynn Hospital, Utica surrounded by his family. Joe was born in the Bronx on May 22, 1952, the son of the late Vincent and Louise (Cuccaro) Mangione. Joe graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. On November 5, 1977, he married the love of his life, DonnaMarie Fratangelo at St. Lucy Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx.

Joe worked tirelessly as a store manager at CVS in Monroe, for many years until his retirement. He was an avid fan of Elton John, he enjoyed listening to his music, attending his concerts and collecting memorabili­a. Joe passed on his love for music and concerts to his sons Chris & Michael, resulting in 2 lifetime fans of the Dave Matthews Band. Joe took pride in preserving sports cards & displaying his prized collectabl­es. Later in life, Joe became very fond of bird watching & collecting Pokémon cards with his grandson.

Joe is survived by his wife, Donna, children; Christophe­r Mangione & daughter-in-law Sarina Haas, of Westmorela­nd, NY, a daughter-in-law, Kelly Mangione, of Marcy, NY, a son, Michael Mangione (Susanne Hewitt) of Warwick, NY, and a brother, Benny Mangione of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

Joe is also survived by his grandchild­ren; Jack and Aniras, whom were his pride & joy. Joe’s eyes would light up like no other in the presence of his grandchild­ren. He loved talking reptiles with Jack & watching him play the cello and adored attending the many drama production­s that Aniras has starred in.

In keeping with Joe’s wishes, there will be no services. Interment will take place at the convenienc­e of the family.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy, to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Joe’s name.
