Raceway toy drive event revs up
Donations can be made through Dec. 11
Once again Sonoma Raceway is starting its engines to make sure kids have the perfect finish come Christmas time.
For the 17th consecutive year, race fans and community members can help spread holiday spirit to Sonoma Valley kids by donating toys to Sonoma Raceway’s High-Powered Toy Drive.
“This event truly makes it feel like Christmas,” said Diana Brennan, Sonoma Raceway vice president, communications and marketing. “Seeing the delight in the children’s eyes when Santa arrives or they get an extras-special gift they love captures the magic of the holiday season.”
All toys collected during the toy drive, which runs through Dec. 11, will be distributed to more than 300 children at the raceway’s an
nual Race to the Holidays Christmas Party on Dec. 14. All children are pre-registered for the party through one of six Sonoma Valley non-profit youth organizations. New, unwrapped gifts for newborns to 12-yearolds are still needed.
“I brought my daughter to the raceway children’s Christmas party when she was little and now she’s in high school, so I brought my two younger sons, and they had so much fun,”
said Edith from Sonoma following the 2018 event in a news release. “They were excited to see Santa and are already busy playing with the toys.”
Brennan said she’s happy to have helped families with the nearly two-decade old event.
“Parents tell us year after year that without this event, they might not be able to provide toys for their children, so to create a special day that the families can enjoy together is incredibly meaningful — and really fun,” Brennan said.
Toys are accepted at the following Sonoma locations:

“We couldn’t do this
event without the incredible support of our community,” Brennan said. “Each donation of a new, unwrapped toy gives us one more gift for a special child. We always especially needs toys and items for the older kids — especially 8- to 12-yearolds.”
