There haven’t been any surprises halfway through the nomination filing period for the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary as most of the active campaigns for the Solano County Board of Supervisors have pulled paperwork.
Board Chairwoman Erin Hannigan, along with Vallejo City Councilman Robert McConnell, have each pulled the nomination paperwork for the District 1 seat, according to the Solano County Registrar of Voters.
Hannigan has submitted a declaration of candidacy and a candidate statement, the county reported on the close of business last Friday. McConnell pulled candidacy paperwork on Nov. 12, the same records show.
District 1 covers all of Vallejo north of Georgia Street.
Hannigan is seeking a third board term, following her election to the board in 2012. She won automatic re-election in 2016 as the only person to file nomination paperwork. Hannigan previously served on the Vallejo City Council from 2007 to 2012.
After eight years on the city council, McConnell, a finance at
torney, is termed out from a third council term.
Vallejo’s other seat on the five-person board includes District 2, which covers the city of Benicia, portions of Fairfield, Mare Island, and all of Vallejo located south of Georgia Street.
Board Vice Chair Monica
Brown pulled nomination paperwork on Nov. 12, the county reported. The retired school teacher is seeking a second term on the board after serving a fouryear term on the Solano Community College Governing Board from 2012 to 2016.
Numerous challengers have declared their intent to run for the seat, including businesswoman K. Patrice Williams, Rochelle
Sherlock, and Stephanee Lawrence.
Williams is the only one to pulled papers as of last Friday, the same records show. Lawrence did pull in-lieu paperwork which allows a potential candidate to gather signatures from registered voters to lower filing fees. Williams started her own company, BrandGOV, a transportation and energy lobbying firm in 2007.
The nomination period runs through Dec. 6. Should an incumbent decline to file by the deadline, the nomination period will be extended by five days to Dec. 11 for that specific office.
