Young, Hauser lead vic­tory on the road

The Cal Mar­itime men’s bas­ket­ball team clob­bered host West Coast Baptist 100-69 on Satur­day in non­league ac­tion in Lan­caster.

The Keel­haulers (7-1) outscored their op­po­nent 58-36 in the sec­ond half.

Kaden Young scored a game-high 22 points on 7 of 8 shoot­ing. Young made 6 of 6 from 3-point land in the win. Josh Hauser fin­ished with 19 points on 8 of 16 shoot­ing.

Trey Porter had 16 points on 8 of 10 shoot­ing and added four as­sists and three steals. Evan Madill had 12 points and Matthew Eis­sen had 10 points to round out the dou­ble-digit scor­ers. Di­vine Nwoko grabbed seven boards.

For the game, Cal Mar­itime shot 55.1 per­cent from the field.

The Keel­haulers con­tinue their road swing with a game at West­cliff on Mon­day. Their next game is Dec. 3 at UC Santa Cruz.

Lo­cal Golf

Ven­tura shoots hole-in-one

Vallejo’s Cipri­ano Ven­tura III fired a hole-in­one re­cently at Blue Rock Springs East Course.

Ven­tura, 53, aced the 145yard, No. 2 hole with his 9-iron.

He has been play­ing golf for 11 years. It was his ninth hole-in-one.

Wit­nesses in­cluded Art Man­dap, Lay­den De­lado and Danny Dela Cruz.
