The Cal Mar­itime men’s bas­ket­ball team beat host West­cliff 79-68 on Mon­day evening in non­league play.

The two teams were tied 36-all at half­time be­fore the Keel­haulers (8-1) took con­trol in the sec­ond half.

Josh Hauser fin­ished with 23 points, three as­sists and three steals for Cal Mar­itime. Cet­rick Year­ney had 10 points and eight boards. Matthew Eissien had 12 points, and Evan

Madill added 11 points. Trey Porter pulled down seven re­bounds.

Cal Mar­itime shot 40 per­cent from the field.

The Keel­haulers are back in ac­tion next Tues­day when they travel to UC Santa Cruz.

Women’s bas­ket­ball

West­cliff 64, Cal Mar­itime 44

The Cal Mar­itime women’s bas­ket­ball team lost to host West­cliff 64-44 on Mon­day in non­league play.

Jesse Bethel grad Liz Martinez had a team-high 10 points and Kim Ma­sulit had nine points. Ali­cia Porter had nine boards and Kiara War­ren had three as­sists.

Cal Mar­itime (0-8) trailed just 19-13 af­ter a quar­ter but was outscored 20-7 in the sec­ond pe­riod.

The Keel­haulers lost to Hope 71-58 on Tues­day. Stats for that game were not avail­able at press time.

Stover will di­rect the pro­gram in con­junc­tion with U.S. Base­ball Academy.

Classes are avail­able for play­ers in grades 1-12 and are limited to seven play­ers per coach. Ses­sions are of­fered in hit­ting, pitch­ing, catch­ing, field­ing and baserun­ning.
