Mayor and City Council: Reopen M.I. Preserve

- — Myrna Hayes/Mare Island Heritage Trust Vallejo

Good morning! Saturday was a blustery today, wasn’t it?! For so many years, days like Saturday at the Mare Island Preserve might have dampened the turnout or delayed the Lighted Trail for an evening or two, but if you dared to venture out in it, there was a spectacular vibrancy about being on the land. On the hilltop as the storms advanced toward you. I so often felt this joy and extreme aliveness as the forces of nature impaled me.

’Tis the season for signing and sharing our Change.org petition: chng.it/wtqYqngM

Have you noticed we’re close to 1,500 signatures. Wow! Thank you. Please share. Over and over. Share in an email or on another platform. Let’s stay creative even in our sadness for not having public access to the Preserve and for having been kicked out as it’s successful founders and operators.

This, too, is the season for giving. Please make a donation to support our ongoing costs of conducting our nonprofit business and our Preserve Mare Island Preserve Campaign. PayPal.me/mareislandheritage

Thank you dear friends for all of your genuine caring and concern for the Preserve and me and our team and the community. We know in our hearts that “We are right. And they are wrong.” (James Joyce via Stan Clark)

Our special place of peace and resilience is there now for us. Calling to us. Assuring us that we are not forgotten. So, we too, will not forget the solace and joy and often even elation and exuberance we have experienced while on the lands of the Mare Island Preserve.

My best wishes,
