Vallejo accepting applications for Water Rate Assistance Program
Vallejo is now accepting applications for its Water Rate Assistance Program (WRAP) for income-qualifying, single-family residential customers, City Hall announced last week.
Qualified single-family residents are eligible to receive a water charge credit of up to $30 annually, according to a city press release. The program is limited to program funding, which was set by the Vallejo City Council at $50,000 for Fiscal Year 2019-20.
The program is projected to fund WRAP bill credits to approximately 1,600 single-family residential customers in the year ahead. Customers must be enrolled in PG&E’s Care Program in order to be eligible for the credit, officials said.
“I really appreciate the city council’s unanimous support for the rate assistance program,” Vallejo Mayor Bob Sampayan said in a statement released by City Hall. “The Vallejo Water Department works hard to serve the community not only by providing highquality drinking water, but also by offering qualifying low-income residential customers the opportunity to have a portion of the rate increase credited to their bill.”
The first approved billing credit for qualified applicants will appear on the first water bill issued after Feb. 1, City Hall said. Applications submitted and approved after Feb. 1 will receive the first billing credit in the following billing cycle. The customer name and address listed on the application must match the name and address on the PG&E Care Program bill.
The WRAP program will be available on a firstcome, first-served basis, based on available budgeted funding.
Applications and instructions on how to apply for the rebate are available online at vallejowater. org. Applications may be mailed to: City of Vallejo, Commercial Services, 555 Santa Clara Street, 1st Floor, Vallejo, CA 94590, or placed in the Water Billing Drop-Box located outside of City Hall.
