League of Women Voters hosting events
The League of Women Voters Solano County has numerous events planned for the coming months, including a candidates forum for the District 2 seat on the Solano County Board of Supervisors.
The forum begins at 7 p.m., Jan. 29 and will be held at the Benicia Public Library, Dona Benicia Room, 150 East L St. The forum is co-sponsored by the library and the American Association of University Women.
The following night, the group is hosting a candidates forum for the District 5 seat on the county board of supervisors. The forum is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Jan. 30 at the Solano County Library, 1 Town Square, in Vacaville.
The League of Women Voters Solano County will again co-sponsor the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions program with the Benicia Public Library.
Members and the public are welcome and encouraged to participate in this discussion program which focuses on international affairs. Everyone is welcome. No expertise required.
At each meeting, the group views a documentary prepared by the Foreign Policy Association and encourage attendees to read the accompanying chapter in the Great Decisions Briefing Book published by the FPA.
Great Decisions will have its first meeting of 2020 on Jan. 27 at the Benicia Public Library. The topic is Climate Change and the Global Order. The Foreign Policy Association’s international affairs discussion group is jointly sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Benicia Public Library.
Weekly meetings will continue on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. through March 23. There will be no meeting on Feb. 17 because the library will be closed for the President’s Holiday.

• Feb. 3— India and Pakistan
• Feb. 10— Red Sea Security
• Feb. 24— Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking.

The Benicia Library will also have a few copies of the Briefing Book available for in-library use.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization which neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties.
