Pawsh seeking pups for second Doggie Bowl

- By Nick Sestanovich nsestanovich@thereporter.com

The NFL playoffs get underway this weekend, but those are not the only highly anticipated sports matchups this month.

Over at Pawsh Place, a team of dogs will be meeting up for the veterinary center and boutique’s 2nd annual Doggie Bowl.

Pawsh hosted its first Doggie Bowl last year, in which dogs were brought into the Play Care, split into teams and set loose in the enclosed area, which had been converted into a football field strewn with toys.

Pooches who carried toys to either of the designated end zones scored touchdowns for their teams, and the packs with the most touchdowns won the game. The footage of this game was later edited by Pawsh staff to resemble a Super Bowl telecast — complete with a “Halftime show” featuring videos of dogs and cats doing tricks — and posted to Pawsh’s social media pages on the weekend of NFL’s Big Game.

The Doggie Bowl will be returning to Pawsh on Jan. 17, and canine participants are being sought for these festivities. Pet parents can reserve a space for their dogs by calling 451-0571 or by going to http://bit.ly/ savemyspawt. Pups must be up to date on their vaccines and friendly with other dogs. Dog owners can even hang out in the boutique on the day of the event and enjoy game day snacks.

All participants will receive a game day prize as well as a chance to be featured on the official Doggie Bowl broadcast. Tryouts and warmups are scheduled for Jan. 6 to 11.

The event will be held between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Jan. 17 at Pawsh, 218 Dobbins St.

For more information, call 451-0571.
