Bethel High School boys basketball team handles Rodriguez

Wolves lose league opener to Justin-Siena

The Jesse Bethel High School boys basketball team beat Rodriguez 8850 on Thursday in a battle of ex-Solano County Athletic Conference foes.

The Jaguars led just 3332 at halftime but exploded in the second half.

Matthew Elliott had 22 points for Bethel. Kevin Barnes had 17 points and 18 rebounds, and Michael Anderson had 12 points.

The Mustangs fell to 9-7 overall.

Bethel (6-9) hosts Benicia in a nonleague game on Saturday.

Girls Basketball

Rodriguez 48, Bethel 43

The Bethel High School girls basketball team fell to visiting Rodriguez 4843 on Thursday in nonleague play.

The Mustangs (6-8) led 24-18 at halftime.

Jhrriuha Pina had 15 points and Nikkea Youngblood added 11 for the Jaguars, who fell to 10-2 overall.

Bethel hosts Benicia on Saturday and then hosts El

Cerrito on Tuesday in the Tri-County Athletic League Stone Division opener.

Justin-Siena 35, American Canyon 31

The American Canyon High girls basketball team fell to Justin-Siena 35-31 on Thursday in Vine Valley Athletic League play.

Jazmine Fontilla and Trinity Billingsle­y each had 11 for the Wolves, who fell to 7-8 overall, 0-1 in league play.

The Braves improved to 5-8 overall, 1-0 in conference play.

American Canyon hosts Northgate of Walnut Creek on Saturday.

Men’s basketball

Los Medanos 90, Solano 76

The Solano College men’s basketball team fell to visiting Los Medanos 90-76 on Thursday in Bay Valley Conference play.

Los Medanos led 52-42 at halftime.

Armon Economou led the Falcons (6-9, 1-2) with 22 points on 8 of 15 shooting. Berry Roseboroug­h had 19 points on 6 of 16 shooting and Dunnell Stafford had 15 points on 6 of 14 shooting. Ricky Holland added eight boards and five assists. Stafford had seven boards.

Jason Holman had 23 points for Los Medanos (10-4, 1-1). Zack Martinez had 20 points.

Solano is back Wednesday at Marin.

Tickets available for Hall of Fame

The Vallejo Sports Hall of Fame announced its 17th annual class for March 14 at the Dan Foley Cultural Center.

The athletes are Richie Anderson and Ronnie Anderson (BMX Hall of Fame), Willie Anderson (Harlem Globetrott­ers), Joanie Bettencour­t (softball), Bobby Gonzalez Jr (wrestling), Tony Longmire (baseball) and Everett Robinson (Tae Kwon Do).

The coach being inducted is Ann Talamantes­Ristow. The team being inducted is the 1987 Vallejo High girls basketball squad and special achievemen­t is the PAL German soccer exchange program with Mike Kollar.

Tickets are $50 before Feb. 1 and $60 after and are $30 for ages 6 to 17.
