Bethel High School boys basketball team picks up wins over Richmond, McClymonds

The Bethel High boys basketball team defeated Richmond on Friday night 85-58 in Tri-County Athletic League Stone Division play.

The Jaguars’ Angel Cerrato had 26 points, while Kevin Barnes added 21 points and 15 rebounds. Matthew Elliot had 14 points.

The Jaguars (9-10) then beat McClymonds 67-50 on Saturday. Elliott had 22 points and Khalil Brown had 19 points.

Bethel’s next game is Tuesday at Kennedy High. VALLEJO 64, PINOLE VALLEY 56 >> The Vallejo High boys basketball team defeated Pinole Valley 64-56 at Bottari Gym on Friday night.

The Redhawks were led by Deven Johnson, who had 23 points and six rebounds. Daylan Johnson had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Jaquan Edwards had five steals.

The Redhawks improved to 8-8 and 3-1 in the TriCounty Athletic League with the win. Their next game is Tuesday at home against John Swett.

CASA GRANDE 78, AMERICAN CANYON 75 >> The American Canyon boys basketball team lost to Casa Grande 78-75 on Friday night on the road in Vine Valley Athletic League play.

The Wolves (5-7, 1-1) had a dismal third quarter defensivel­y as they were outscored 26-16 in the period. Casa Grande led by as many as 18 in the third and began the fourth quarter up 15 points.

American Canyon closed the gap to only a basket with under a minute to play but couldn’t secure several key rebounds after the Gauchos failed to convert from the free throw line after being intentiona­lly fouled on three occasions.

Oliver Aandahl led the Wolves balanced attack with 15 points. Gabriel Patrick and Bishop Evans had 11 each. while Khai Curry had 10. It is the Wolves fifth loss this season that came down to the last possession.

American Canyon also struggled from the free throw line by converting 11 of 20.

Girls Basketball

ST. MARY'S 59, ST. PAT'S 51 >> The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High girls basketball team lost to St. Mary’s 59-51 on Friday night on Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division play.

St. Pat’s led 27-25 at halftime but was outscored 2424 in the second half.

Zeni Purge had 20 points, and Kayla Revelo had 11 for the Bruins, who fell to 8-6 overall, 0-2 in the TCAL. ALBANY 32, VALLEJO 30 >> The Vallejo High girls basketball team lost 32-30 on Friday night.

The Redhawks fell to 6-11 and 2-3 in the Tri-County Athletic League with the loss.

Girls Soccer

BENICIA 2, BEREAN CHRISTIAN 1 >> The Benicia High girls soccer team defeated Berean Christian on the road 2-1 on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers had goals scored from Erin Cunningham and Madison Salinas. Salinas also had an assist, while her goal came on a penalty kick.

Benicia improved to 6-2-3 and 2-0-1 in the Diablo Athletic League with the win.

The Panthers take on Acalanes on Wednesday at home.

Casa Grande 9, American Canyon 0 »

The American Canyon girls soccer team lost to Casa Grande 9-0 on Friday night.

The Wolves fell to 5-5-2 and 1-1 in the Vine Valley Athletic League with the loss. Their next game is Wednesday at Napa. BETHEL 3, KENNEDY 1 >> The Bethel High School girls soccer team beat Kennedy 3-1 on Friday in Tri-County Athletic League play.

Katelyn Anderson had two goals and Reign Winn had one goal.

Bethel is now 3-4-1 overall, 3-1 in league and takes on rival Vallejo at 6 p.m. Monday at Corbus Field.

Boys Soccer

3, HERCULES

VALLEJO 0>> The Vallejo High boys soccer team defeated Hercules 3-0 on Friday night.

Alexis Villagomez scored two goals for Vallejo. The other goal was an own-goal. Villagomez scored his first goal on a penalty kick.

The Redhawks improved to 11-1-4 and 5-0-1 in the Tri-County Athletic League with the win.

BENICIA 1 >> The Benicia High School boys soccer team tied Berean Christian 1-1 on Friday in Diablo Athletic League play at Drolette Stadium.

Men’s Basketball

SOLANO 98, MARIN 84 >> The Solano College men’s basketball team beat visiting Marin 98-84 on Friday in a Bay Valley Conference battle.

All five starters in double figures for Solano (7-10, 2-3), led by Armon Economou with 27 points on 11 of 15 shooting to go along with 10 boards as well as Jordan Adams with 18 points as he was a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point land.

Dunnell Stafford had 17 points and nine boards, and Berry Roseboroug­h had 15 points. Uriah Benning had 10 points and nine rebounds. Ricky Holland also chipped in 10 points.

The Mariners (7-10, 1-5) were led by Malik Ghiden’s 20 points.

Women’s basketball

SOLANO 59, MARIN 48 >> The Solano College women’s basketball team knocked off visiting Marin 59-48 on Friday in Bay Valley Conference play.

Vanessa Hughes had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Falcons, who are 9-8 overall, 4-1 in league play. Savannah Lopez had nine points and five boards, and Ashmeen Sran also had nine points. Jada Scott had eight points, nine rebounds, six assists and six steals. Kylahmay Kempvanee also had eight points.

Vanessa Torres had 16 to lead the Mariners (5-11, 2-3).

Solano is at Laney on Wednesday.
