St. Pat’s boys basketball team beats Jesuit

The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High boys basketball team knocked off host Jesuit 70-61 on Saturday in nonleague play at the Father Kelly Tribute in Sacramento.

Junior Jaden Alexander had 37 points on 10 of 19 shooting and added 12 rebounds for the Bruins, who are 11-4. Alexander was also 15 of 18 from the foul line.

Jalen Scott added 11 points, five boards and four assists.

St. Pat’s hosts St. Mary’s on Tuesday and Salesian on Wednesday back in TriCounty Athletic League play.

Wood 42, Benicia 35

The Benicia High School boys basketball team lost to Will C. Wood 42-35 on Saturday in a nonleague game.

The Wildcats led 16-8 after a quarter en route to the win.

Jermaine Golz had seven points and 10 rebounds, and Gio Shaw added three steals for the Panthers (49).

Landon Seaman led Wood (13-4) with 12 points and Jacob Condez added 10. Krishna Clay had 11 rebounds.

The Panthers host Ygnacio Valley in the Diablo Athletic League opener on Tuesday.

Girls Basketball

St. Pat’s 53, Edison 46

St. Patrick-St. Vincent High girls basketball team beat Edison of Stockton 5346 in the Elite Showcase event on Saturday in nonleague play.

The Bruins (9-6) were led by Kayla Revelo, who had 16 points and 18 boards. Tameiya Sadler had 17 points and six steals. Zeni Purge added 10 points.

St. Pat’s takes on Bethel on Tuesday evening back in Tri-County Athletic League play.

Wood 46, Benicia 35

The Benicia High girls basketball team fell to Will C. Wood, 46-35, on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers led 18-15 at halftime but the Wildcats outscored them 31-17 in the second half.

Benicia travels to Ygnacio Valley on Tuesday to start Diablo Athletic League play.

Wrestling

Panthers star in Tim Brown Memorial

The Benicia High School wrestling team had several placers at the Tim Brown Memorial in Sacramento over the weekend.

The Panthers took 14th out of 80 schools.

Basil Othman placed second in the 140-pound division to lead the Panthers. Brandon Reynolds (128) placed fifth, and Lorenzo Gunn (115) placed seventh.

The Benicia girls wrestled in the Napa Valley Classic as Mia Bonotan took seventh place in the 111-pound division.

The Benicia junior varsity boys also wrestled at the Tim Brown event. Dylan Villanueva (108) and George Marshall (220) were second. Ashton Haynes (134) was fourth while Keanue Villanueva (108) and Jordan Distefano (126) were both fifth.

JV Girls Soccer

Bethel 1, Kennedy 0

The Bethel High School junior varsity team beat Kennedy of Richmond 1-0 in Tri-County Athletic League play.

Ashley Guzman scored for Bethel, which faces Vallejo on Monday at Corbus Field.

Women’s basketball

La Sierra 47, Cal Maritime 38

The Cal Maritime women’s basketball team fell to La Sierra 47-38 on Saturday in California Pacific Conference play.

Alicia Porter had 12 points and seven boards for the Keelhauler­s (3-14, 1-2). Kameron Taylor had eight boards.

Siena Jones and Luiza Rodrigues both had 11 for La Sierra.

The Keelhauler­s are back in action Thursday against Pacific Union.

Local Golf

Macias fires hole-inone at Blue Rock

Pinole’s Julian Macias recorded his first career hole-in-one on Friday when he recorded one on Blue Rock Springs’ West Course.

Macias, a parttime marshal at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course, used an 8-iron on the 156-yard 15th hole.

The feat was witnessed by Joe Syric, Adel Moradi and Gabe Quinones.
