County Registrar of Voters notes key dates in advance of state primary
With the California Primary set for March 3, the Solano County Registrar of Voters continues to gear up for the Super Tuesday election, one of 14 such contests nationwide. John Gardner, the assistant registrar of voters, said ballots were mailed Jan. 15 for U.S. military personnel assigned overseas and U.S. voters living in foreign countries, and registrar employees will continue to mail them every day “as requests come in.”
Those prospective voters also can download a ballot “and not wait for the mail to arrive,” at https://sites. omniballot.us/06095/app/ home, he added.
Increasingly, Solano voters are choosing vote-bymail ballots, Gardner noted in a previously. Those ballots will be mailed Wednesday, “about 11 days earlier than normal,” he noted in an email. Due to a change in law (AB 49), ballots can now be mailed to voters before Feb. 3, he added.
“This gives voters more time to get replacement ballots, or to correct potential issues with address or party,” Gardner pointed out.
Replacement ballots can be requested by mail up to Feb. 25. After that, voters either have to vote at the
Registrar, 675 Texas St., Suite 2600, (second floor) in the County Administration Center, in Fairfield, or at their assigned polling places.
Vote-by-mail ballots should start arriving in mailboxes by Saturday, noted Gardner. Voter Information Guides will be included in vote-by-mail packets.
For poll voters — there are an estimated 60,000 in Solano County — their packets are expected to be mailed on or about Saturday, too.
The cutoff for registration to vote on March 3 is Feb. 18.
“Any changes to registration must be complete by then for the upcoming election,” Gardner wrote in the email. “After that, voters can update or register to vote at any polling place in the county. Voters will be given the correct ballot to vote on based on their address from our new voting system.”
Gardner also noted that the Registrar still needs poll workers for the March 3 election.

“There are still opportunities to adopt polling locations!” noted Gardner. “Groups can earn up to $1,500 by adopting a location. Call our office for locations available, this is a great team, church, or group event to help raise funds.”
