- Times-Herald staff report

A 21-year-old Vallejo resident was arrested Feb. 6 for illegally possessing an assault weapon and probation violation, Vallejo police announced on Monday.

Max Richards was the prime suspect in connection with a Jan. 22 car burglary in the parking lot of the Black Bear Dinner, 980 Admiral Callaghan Lane, in Vallejo.

Through their investigation, detectives with the department’s Crime Reduction Team obtained a search warrant for Richards’ residence, in the 100 block of

Vanessa Street, police said.

They found a loaded short barrel assault rifle, a loaded handgun, various calibers of ammunition and several high capacity magazines were located in Richards’ bedroom.

Police said a hunting rifle was located by the front door of the residence along with a box of ammunition. Four additional handguns were found in the residence.

Richards was arrested without incident in the 2500 block of Flosden Road in the city of American Canyon.

Detectives are still investigating to determine if the other firearms found in the residence were legally possessed, police said.

The vehicle burglary is being referred to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office for review.

The Vallejo Police Department would like to remind everyone to lock their vehicle and to take their valuables with them.

Anyone who may be a witness or who has additional information is asked to contact Det. Kevin Barreto at (707) 648-5423.
