Vallejo man ar­rested for pos­sess­ing as­sault weapon

A 21-year-old Vallejo res­i­dent was ar­rested Feb. 6 for il­le­gally pos­sess­ing an as­sault weapon and pro­ba­tion vi­o­la­tion, Vallejo po­lice an­nounced on Mon­day.

Max Richards was the prime sus­pect in con­nec­tion with a Jan. 22 car bur­glary in the park­ing lot of the Black Bear Din­ner, 980 Ad­mi­ral Cal­laghan Lane, in Vallejo.

Through their in­ves­ti­ga­tion, de­tec­tives with the depart­ment’s Crime Re­duc­tion Team ob­tained a search war­rant for Richards’ res­i­dence, in the 100 block of

Vanessa Street, po­lice said.

They found a loaded short bar­rel as­sault ri­fle, a loaded hand­gun, var­i­ous cal­ibers of am­mu­ni­tion and sev­eral high ca­pac­ity mag­a­zines were lo­cated in Richards’ bed­room.

Po­lice said a hunt­ing ri­fle was lo­cated by the front door of the res­i­dence along with a box of am­mu­ni­tion. Four ad­di­tional hand­guns were found in the res­i­dence.

Richards was ar­rested with­out in­ci­dent in the 2500 block of Flos­den Road in the city of Amer­i­can Canyon.

De­tec­tives are still in­ves­ti­gat­ing to de­ter­mine if the other firearms found in the res­i­dence were legally pos­sessed, po­lice said.

The ve­hi­cle bur­glary is be­ing re­ferred to the Solano County District At­tor­ney’s Of­fice for re­view.

The Vallejo Po­lice Depart­ment would like to re­mind ev­ery­one to lock their ve­hi­cle and to take their valu­ables with them.
