Iguodala’s favorite moment was all about Curry

- By Jon Becker

Andre Iguodala sacrificed personal gain on the court throughout his time with the Warriors. So we shouldn’t have been surprised to hear his answer when asked to name his favorite moment in Golden State.

With three NBA titles and his own NBA Finals MVP award, there were plenty of highlights for Iguodala to choose from during his six years in the Bay Area. But his response to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke Monday night was the most Iguodala thing ever.

“I think Steph’s unanimous MVP,” Iguodala said of his exteammate’s 2015 award. “That might be it. Steph’s unanimous MVP was probably my favorite moment because people don’t know the hard work he puts in. I think they know but they don’t know. I think he was a little bit overlooked. Players across the league didn’t quite respect him, but when they saw it, it was beautiful seeing like, ‘Oh (expletive), this guy is really, really good.’

“So that was beautiful seeing him humble the entire world and being a part of that.”

That’s pretty much what anyone who witnessed Iguodala’s effect on the Warriors dynasty would have expected him to say. The Wariors’ greatness was defined by Curry and Klay Thompson’s shooting, Draymond Green’s intensity and Kevin

Durant's domination, but it was rooted in Iguodala's willingness to sacrifice and adapt to fill whatever role was needed.

Golden State fans as well as Iguodala's former teammates and coaches had the opportunity to publicly thank him when before, during and after his new team, the Miami Heat, beat this lottery-bound edition of the Warriors.

Iguodala seemed to have a difficult time separating himself from his old team during his postgame interview as he took time to praise some young Warriors players.

“It's interesting, but seeing the young guys, seeing how they are developing — Damion Lee shot the ball great tonight, seeing Jordan Poole progress and develop is good to see,” he told NBC Sports Bay Area.

He also told Burke he still maintains close relationships with Warriors staff members and players.

“Oh, that's no doubt. That's a given,” Iguodala said when asked if he wanted some sort of relationship with the Warriors in the future. “I still talk to the video guys like every other day. I was talking to them this morning (and) last night. I was talking to Draymond two days ago. Those relationships never end, so it'll continue until (I'm) no longer here.”

Iguodala's new contract with the Heat runs for two more years, but it's probably a good bet that he finds his way back to the Warriors one day in some sort of role.
