A suspected burglar died in a solo car accident near Glen Cove on Wednesday after Vallejo police gave multiple pursuits.

On Wednesday at 11:18 a.m., the Vallejo Police Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a witness regarding a smash-and-grab theft from a vehicle in the area of 980 Admiral Callaghan Lane.

At approximately 12:36 p.m., a second caller notified the VPD and provided the same suspect vehicle description, a silver Honda Accord.

Vallejo officers responded to the area of 708 Admiral Callaghan and located the suspected vehicle involved in the smashand-grab thefts. The patrol officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle fled. After a short pursuit, the pursuing officer lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit.

A second patrol officer located the Honda Accord and initiated a second pursuit, which continued onto westbound Highway 780, but eventually out of view of pursuing officers.

Shortly after losing sight of the vehicle, officers located the solo vehicle, which had collided into a tree at Hwy 780 and Glen Cove.

Officers attempted to provide life-saving measures to the solo vehicle driver; unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The California Highway Patrol, Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is currently investigating the fatal vehicle collision.

The Solano County Coroner’s Office is responsible for releasing the suspect’s name after they confirm the identity and notify next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.

Any witnesses with additional information are encouraged to contact the Vallejo Police Department 1-800-488-9383 or the CHP Golden Gate Division.
