I back Aboudamous

-

I have known both candidates for many years in the Napa County Board of Supervisors District 5 race — I have supported both in the past. It was not an easy decision to make, and here is why I will be voting for Mariam Aboudamous on March 3.

First, relations between American Canyon and the county have improved since Keith Caldwell became our supervisor, but there is a long way to go. Mariam will help us get there, in large part because Mariam grew up in American Canyon—this is her home and she will fight for the interests of our community.

A case in point relates to our fire district. While serving on the board, Mariam was the first to advocate for a higher level of firefighter staffing and worked hard to get this improved level of service adopted.

Second, as she meets her future constituents in the Napa portion of the district, she is expanding her fresh perspective to include the needs of residents in Alta Heights, Coombsville and other parts of the district. In many instances, this is the first time Napa voters have had a chance to talk to a supervisor candidate in years.

Third, Mariam is very accessible and eager to meet voters and other groups that represent the issues and interests of District 5. She will listen to all sides before making a decision and keep an open door. More importantly, she will learn by listening to those stakeholders.

For these reasons, and many more, I support Mariam Aboudamous for District 5 supervisor, and I encourage you to vote for her.
