In case allowing thirdgraders an opportunity to take part in agricultural activities isn’t enough to entice you to donate to the Solano County Fair Association’s Youth Ag Day, there’s an extra incentive this year: the chance to win tickets to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

You may start reaching for your wallets now.

On March 17, thousands of third-graders from throughout Solano County will be cropping up at the Solano Fairgrounds for the 18th annual Youth Ag Day where they will learn about the county’s rich agricultural heritage and the role it plays in everyone’s daily lives.

The transportation for the event is largely paid for by donors. As an added stimulus to donate, the association will be providing donors who submit money between now and midnight March 1 a chance to win two oneday Park Hopper tickets to Disney’s two largest Anaheim parks.

Donors will get one entry into the ticket drawing for every $100 donated to Youth Ag Day. There is no limit to the number of entries, and two winners will be announced in March. The Park Hopper tickets will be good through April 22, 2021.

Additionally, bus sponsorships in the amount of $550 are being sought to serve the transportation needs of classrooms throughout the county. The Solano County 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, which allows donations to qualify as tax-deductible.

Youth Ag Day is presented by the Solano County Fair Association in collaboration with the Solano County Department of Agriculture, Solano County 4-H, Future Farmers of America and many other community sponsors, volunteers and donors. Classes come from public, private, charter and home schools in all seven Solano cities.

“This is one of the highlights of our year-round calendar of events where students get to explore the agricultural industries that are at the heart of what fairs and fairgrounds are all about,” Board of Directors President Carole Paterson said in a statement. “Youth Ag Day does this in a fun and educational way, introducing children to exciting new concepts and awareness of the world around them. We hope this sparks their interest to come back in the summer to experience the bigger line up of entertainment, attractions and agricultural activities found at the annual Solano County Fair.”

Donations can be made through the “Donate” link on the Youth Ag Fair webpage at SCFair.com. Youth Ag Day will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 17 at the Solano County Fairgrounds, 900 Fairgrounds Drive, Vallejo.
