Brown for Supervisor

Times-Herald (Vallejo) - - OPINION -

As a former Benicia City Council member and Mayor for the City of Benicia, as well as a board member and Chairman of the Solano Transportation Authority, I have had the opportunity to work with my fellow elected colleagues. Some were extremely talented and hard-working, while others were not.

We here in Solano County have been fortunate to have had one of those talented and hard-working types serving on our Board of Supervisors for the past four years, which is why I am delighted to endorse and vote for the re-election of Supervisor Monica Brown.

Two years ago, when Regional Measure Three, a bridge toll tax increase was on the ballot, I was asked by our Benicia

League of Women Voters to serve on a panel discussion of the pros and cons of this measure at our Public Library. Supervisor Brown, who cast a “no” vote when our board of supervisors voted to support placing this proposal on the ballot, attended this forum and presented a strong and well-prepared opposition to this additional tax on Solano County voters and taxpayers.

I have continued to be impressed with how Supervisor Brown has fought to ensure that our District 2 tax dollars come back to the district rather than disproportionately going up county.

Monica Brown is a fighter and an intense advocate for her district and her constituents.

Please join me in voting for Monica Brown as our District 2 Supervisor.

— Jerry Hayes/Former Mayor,

City of Benicia
