Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin becomes the 8th player to reach 700 goals,

Alex Ovechkin became the eight NHL player to score 700 career goals, reaching the milestone in the third period of the Washington’ Capitals’ 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

The 34-year-old Russian forward one-timed a slap shot from the right circle that went in off the left post 4:50 into the third period, tying the game at 2. It was his 42nd goal of the season.

Wayne Gretzky leads the career list with 894 goals. He is followed by Gordie Howe (801), Jaromir Jagr (766), Brett Hull (741), Marcel Dionne (731), Phil Esposito (717) and Mike Gartner (708).

Ovechkin needed 1,144 games to reach the landmark, second fastest behind Gretzky at 886 games..

Forney was a senior and three-year letter winner. He played in 39 consecutiv­e games over his final three seasons.

UTAH PLAYER CHARGED WITH 3 RAPES >> A University of Utah football player accused of raping a 17-year-old girl is facing additional charges after prosecutor­s say he also raped two women.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that 20-yearold Terrell Perriman is now charged with eight felonies, including three counts of rape. He is in jail on $750,000 bail.

Perriman initially faced a single count of rape and a charge of aggravated kidnapping on suspicion of assaulting a teen girl he met on Instagram. Prosecutor­s added to the charges, saying he raped two women in Salt Lake County — one just three days before he was accused of raping the teen.
