St. Pat’s softball outslugs Bethel

The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High softball team outslugged Jesse Bethel 1611 on Friday in a Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division game.

The two teams combined for 22 hits. The Jaguars (23, 0-2) led 6-0 after the first inning before the Bruins (40, 3-0) rallied back.

Haylee Jones was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Bruins. Jones also pitched well in relief, with four innings of work. She allowed four hits and three runs but none of those were earned. She fanned four and walked one.

Daniella Ontiveros was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Xiara Antonio was 2-for-5. Alexci Johnson had a triple.

St. Pat’s hosts El Cerrito on Wednesday. Bethel is at Swett next Friday. AMERICAN CANYON 8, SAN RAFAEL 1 >> The American Canyon High softball team knocked off San Rafael 8-1 on Friday in nonleague play.

The Wolves rallied late with five in the sixth and two in the seventh to break it open.

Katherine Montuya was 2-for-3 with an RBI for American Canyon. Alexis Abelos was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Kylee Sandino was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Angelia Rodriguez went all seven innings in the circle, allowing just four hits and one unearned run. She fanned seven.

American Canyon (20) takes on Rodriguez on Wednesday.

Baseball

BRUINS SPLITS WITH EL CERRITO >> The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High baseball team knocked off El Cerrito 5-4 on Wednesday and lost to the Gauchos 9-3 on Friday.

In the win, Stefan Foley was 2-for-4 with two doubles, Ivan Ibarra was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Devin Dennis was 2-for-4 with a homer. Angelo Leon had two RBIs.

In the loss, Rodney Green went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for El Cerrito.

Next week, the Bruins (2-2, 1-1) are at Albany on Wednesday.

HERCULES 4, BETHEL 2 >> The Bethel High baseball team fell to Hercules 4-2 on Friday in Tri-County Athletic League play.

The Jaguars fell to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the TCAL. The Titans improved to 1-2 overall, 1-1 in the TCAL.

Bethel hosts De Anza on Wednesday.

College Baseball

FALCONS BEAT NAPA, LOSE TO LANEY >> The Solano College baseball team fell to host Laney 3-1 in a pitchers’ duel on Friday afternoon. The Falcons knocked off Napa Valley 9-8 on Thursday.

Falcons pitcher Jesse Rodriguez

went six innings, allowing two hits and just one unearned run. He struck out eight and walked four. Davis Dunkley took the loss in relief.

Laney pitcher Rudolph McDowell quieted the Solano bats as he went eight innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run.

Cameron Martin had a double and Wellington Balsley had an RBI for Solano, which fell to 4-14.

In the win over the Storm, Nathan Jessell was 3-for-6 with two RBIs. Balsley had two RBIs. Eli DeGuzman had a triple and Dmitri McLen had a double.

Edgar Aquil Cruz started the game on the mound but didn’t figure in the decision. He went six innings, allowing seven hits and two runs, fanning six.

Tony Diaz went 5-for-5 with four RBIs for Napa. Eric Thomas, Freddy Tenbrink and Adrien Garcia all had two hits.
