Redhawk athletes star in Vallejo Relays

Several local athletes from Vallejo High fared well at the 14-team Vallejo Relays over the weekend at Corbus Field.

Sameerah Evans won three events for the Vallejo High girls team, as she set a new school record in the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 1 inch. She also won the long jump and 100-meter dash.

Bella Vidal took third in the high jump.

On the boys side Gilbert Wah took second place in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.14 seconds. Kyree Reason took third in the 100 dash with a time of 11.83, while Gerald Dial finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 32-4.

The boys 4-by-100 and 4-by-200 relays teams also finished in first place.

In frosh-soph competitio­n, Xavier Maddalone won the high jump and long jump. The 4-by-100 and 4-by-200 relay teams took first place.

On the girls side at the frosh/soph level, Talea White grabbed first place in the 100M, while Amillion Hicks won the 300 hurdles and third in the high jump. Alexis Peterson finished second in the shot put, while Ja’chey Hunter placed third in the 100. Jockalya Williams was third in the shot put. The girls relay teams grabbed first place in the 4-by-100 and 4-by200 races.

The Benicia High School softball team concluded the Preseason TOC Tournament in Sacramento with a 15-8 win over Amador on Saturday.

Lorenzza Marcacci was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Panthers (2-0). Bailey McLaughlin had a triple and three RBIs.

Braxton Brown, Hailey Weddington, Tayler Murphy and Kaydencde Kinder also clubbed doubles. Kinder also threw three innings in the circle, allowing eight runs but just one earned.

Benicia takes on Napa on Thursday.
