Suisun City leaders are seeking community input about plans for a bike and pedestrian trail within city limits.

If you have ideas about Phase 2 of McCoy Creek Trail, then, for those interested, you will be asked to fill out online a community questionnaire, with a comment period that continues to Nov. 26.

The city wants to gather input about future trail amenities, access points, opportunities, and challenges for a three-quartermile multi-use path along McCoy Creek, from Pintail Drive to Blossom Avenue.

Community members can participate by visiting www.McCoyTrail.com.

“The city has been diligently working to incorporate paved trails into our community,” Mayor Lori Wilson said in a press release. “Paved trails improve mobility in our neighborhoods and provide better access to destinations across our entire city. They provide space for those of all ages and abilities to engage in recreational activities and enjoy the benefit of our natural environment.”

The 10-foot-wide concrete trail will extend the completed first phase, which is located between the Central County Bikeway and Pintail Drive. The proposed project will include a pedestrian/bicycle bridge, and, pending available budget and community feedback, may include additional amenities, among them shade structures, wayfinding, educational kiosk signs, and lighting.

This second phase of the trail will provide important and safe connections for community members who walk, bike, or use other forms of selfpropelled transportation through Suisun, and offer community members of all ages and abilities the opportunity to participate in active recreation, Nick Lozano, associate engineer for the city, noted in the prepared statement.

“The McCoy Creek Trail Phase 2 Project is grantfunded, so this is a great way to bring local dollars back to Suisun City,” he added. “We invite community members to provide their feedback and help us plan for this important project.”
