CHP is stepping up its enforcement for holidays

Starting Christmas Eve until 11:59p.m. Sunday, CHP will be implementing a Maximum Enforcement Period.

Holiday travel is expected to be light this season because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, for those who choose to get on the road, the California Highway Patrol is here to remind you to respect the rules of the road just as you would any other time of the year.

Starting at 6:01 p. m. Christmas Eve and continuing until 11:59 p. m. Sunday, the CHP will be implementing a Ma ximum Enforcement Period. All available officers will be on the road for enhanced enforcement and to assist drivers in need of help.

Due to the regional stay-at-home order for the Bay Area, which includes Solano County, state officials are advising residents to stay close to home as much as possible and not travel too far. For those who do travel, the CHP is advising all motorists to obey the rules of the road, not speed, drive sober, avoid distractions, always buckle up and leave plenty of time to arrive at the desired destination.

“The CHP wants to ensure your safety throughout this unprecedented year,” CHP Commissioner Amanda Ray said in a statement. “We are hopeful that the public will do their part and remember to make safety a priority.”
