A Rio Vista man was arrested on suspicion of murder in the death of his infant boy, who had been taken to Children’s Hospital Oakland for care, according to police.

The two-month old baby boy was first brought to the

Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Antioch the night of Jan. 18, according to Rio Vista Police. Medical staff alerted police to the child’s “suspicious injuries,” authorities said.

Soon after arriving at Kaiser Antioch, the baby was transported to Oakland’s UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, a pediatric medical center and a Level-1 trauma center equipped for those critically injured. The infant later died from his injuries.

Police conducted interviews and collected evidence at both hospitals, including camera footage and an autopsy of the child. Detectives served a search warrant on a home in Rio

Vista where it is believed the infant suffered the lifeending injuries.

Police arrested the baby’s father, Tre Kenneth Clay, 23, of Rio Vista, on Saturday on suspicion of murder and child abuse resulting in murder, according to police.

Clay was being held at the Solano County Justice Center Detention Facility without bail.
