‘Uncle Bernie’ speaks

-

A few days ago, “Uncle,” Bernie (alias for Sen. Bernard — Bernie — Sanders) sent out a message via electronic mail (e-mail) from his Washington D.C. office. The message was that the Electoral College has to go (be deleted) as (according to, “Uncle,” Bernie) it is outdated and of what value?

Hmm ... “Uncle,” Bernie thinks that he knows more than the Founding Fathers.

The signers of the Declaration of Independence of this country were born between 1706 and 1747 about 250 years ago. A Millennial would think, “What does that era have to do with today?” It must be remembered that Pericles, the father of modern Politics, was born circa 495 B.C. He is studied and known by anyone who is a political thinker. And he is not alone. Socrates was born, circa 470 B.C. Plato was born, circa 428 B.C. And Aristotle was born circa 384 B.C. The above-mentioned men of thought — among others — are what inspired the Founding Fathers of this country.

“Uncle” Bernie, you are not in their league.

To eliminate the Electoral College would allow this country to be ruled by the cities — Philadelphia, New York, the Los Angeles area, the San Francisco Bay area, Seattle, Portland, Chicago and Minneapolis. Many states would find this electoral setup unacceptable; secession from the Union would soon take place. A direct democracy would degenerate into confusion and chaos.

Interrogative: Before you sent out that message, “Uncle,” Bernie, was there any pre-thought of what is written above, or were you on an emotional joy ride void of any thought?
