Vallejo boys basketball team drops game at Salesian

The Vallejo High School boys basketball team fell to host Salesian 67-53 on Friday in a Tri-County Athletic League battle in Richmond.

Donovan Saiyad had 13 points and three 3-pointers for the Redhawks (6-7, 2-1). Tariq McNeal also had 13 points and Davion Williams added eight.

Logan Coverson had 17 to lead the Pride (6-7, 2-1). Emerson Jones added 15.

Salesian led 16-13 after a quarter but 42-27 at halftime.

Benicia 85, Mt. Diablo 57

The Benicia High School boys basketball team beat Mt. Diablo 85-57 on Friday in Diablo Athletic League play.

Stephen Ransom had 15 points (7-for-10 shooting) and added 11 boards and four blocks for the Panthers (14-5, 6-0). Jake Matteson had nine points and three assists. Jayden Tirao and Kabir Sihota both had nine points.

Todd Tatum had a game-high 26 points for the Red Devils (5-14, 2-4), who trailed just 15-12 after a quarter and 32-23 at halftime.

Girls Basketball

American Canyon 53, Sonoma Valley 44

The American Canyon High girls basketball team knocked off Sonoma Valley 53-44 on Friday in Vine Valley Athletic

League play.

Kaniya Bryant had 15 points, six boards, three assists and a block for the Wolves (15-6, 5-2). Kamaya Jones added 12 points and Destiny Evans added 11 points and 13 boards.

Camille Abcede had seven points and seven boards and Trinity Billingsle­y added eight boards, five assists and four steals.

Mt. Diablo 56, Benicia 53

Despite 30 points from Peyton Holcomb, the Benicia High School girls basketball team fell to Mt. Diablo 56-53 on Friday in Diablo Athletic League play.

Holcomb had five 3-pointers, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Panthers (79, 2-1). Taylor Rice had 16 boards. Rylee Jarmin and Erica Rogers both had seven rebounds.

Benicia is at Berean Christian on Monday.

Girls Soccer

Bethel 1, Swett 1

The Bethel High School girls soccer team tied John Swett 1-1 on Friday in TriCounty Athletic League play.

Gabriela Gonzalez scored the single goal after a penalty kick in the second half.

Heaven Alidio played her first game in goal for and had a solid game with five saves.

The Jaguars (2-3-1, 2-1-1) are expected to play in the TCAL playoffs next week.
