Benicia High softball team beats Sonoma, Casa Grande

The Benicia High School softball team beat Sonoma Valley 11-0 and Casa Grande 5-2 on Friday in tournament play in Napa.

In the win over Sonoma, Sinead Maas went four innings in the circle, allowing one hit while fanning 10 and walking three. Braxton Brown threw three innings, allowing no hits while fanning eight and walking one.

At the plate, Robynn Balmediano was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Benicia (10-4). Emma French was 2-for-5 with a triple and knocked in two. Kyra Mason and Kaydence Kinder were both 2-for-4.

Mason and Denise Pauletich both had two RBIs. Ary Banks and Lorenzza Marcacci both had doubles.

In the win over Casa, Brown pitched seven innings, allowing three hits and two runs while fanning 10 and walking no one.

Marcacci was 2-for-4 with a double and Mason was 2-for-4 with a triple. Brown, French, Balmediano and Kinder all clubbed doubles.

Pinole Valley 12, Bethel 0

The Bethel High School softball team fell to Pinole Valley 12-0 on Friday in Tri-County Athletic

League play.

The Spartans broke the game open with a six-run second inning.

The Jaguars (1-8, 0-8) host El Cerrito on Wednesday.

Napa 6,

American Canyon 3

The American Canyon High baseball team fell to host Napa 6-3 on Friday in Vine Valley Athletic League play.

The Grizzlies led just 2-1 until a four-run sixth inning against the Wolves (1-17, 0-7).

Dayvon Lucas had a homer and two RBIs and Brandon Torres clubbed a double for American Canyon, which hosts Casa Grande on Wednesday.

Elliot Zuidema and Kaleb Matulich both had three hits for Napa (9-9, 4-3).

College baseball

Los Medanos 21, Solano 2

The Solano College baseball team lost to Los Medanos 21-2 on Friday in Bay Valley Conference play.

The Mustangs (21-12, 113) hit four homers, including one by Ryan Pierce, who had five RBIs.

Jason Pridy homered for the Falcons (9-21, 6-8). Michael Vena was 2-for-3 and Chasyn Love was 2-for-5.
