Solano College softball team clinches BVC crown

The Solano College softball team swept visiting Mendocino in a Tuesday doublehead­er and clinched the Bay Valley Conference crown outright. The Falcons won 8-4 and 15-3.

In the first game, Naiya Watts was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Jayden Sola was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Britney Letino pitched all seven innings, allowing five hits and fanning four for the Falcons (16-22, 10-2).

In the nightcap, Watts had two doubles and drove in four. Sola was 2-for-3 and knocked in three. Aketxalli Aranda had a double and knocked in two. Watts went 2 1/3 innings in the circle, allowing three earned runs. Letino went 2 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and no runs while fanning one.

Mendo finished the regular season 16-16-1 overall, 9-3 in the BVC.

College baseball MENDOCINO 11, SOLANO 3 >>

The Solano College baseball team fell to visiting Mendocino 11-3 on Tuesday in Bay Valley Conference play.

Jason Pridy had a homer and three RBIs and Nico Castrillo was 2-for-4 for the Falcons (11-24, 8-11). Zion Judkins had a double.

The two teams meet again at Solano on Thursday.

Baseball

BENICIA 11, MIRAMONTE 0 >>

The Benicia High baseball team blanked Miramonte 11-0 on Tuesday in Diablo

Athletic League play.

The Panthers (12-6, 4-3) broke the game open with an eight-run sixth inning.

Hunter Coombs was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Matteo Copp and Xander Estrada both knocked in two runs. Tommy Turner scored three times.

Jaden Mason pitched six innings, allowing two hits while fanning five and walking one. Ciaran O'Connell pitched one nohit inning, fanning two.

The two teams meet on Thursday, this time at Miramonte.

Softball

AMERICAN CANYON 13, SONOMA VALLEY 2 >> The American Canyon High

softball team blew out Sonoma Valley 13-2 on Tuesday in Vine Valley Athletic League play.

Alexis Abalos was 3-for-5 and Raegan Jackson had two doubles and two RBIs for the Wolves (15-5, 8-1). Angelia Rodriguez was 2-for-2 with a homer and knocked in two. Lindsay Feinberg and Yanesa Rosas both knocked in two. Kylee Sandino had a double.

Yra went six innings in the circle, allowing six hits and two runs. She fanned seven and walked four.

Badminton

VALLEJO 9, DE ANZA 8 >> The Vallejo High badminton team edged De Anza 9-8 on Tuesday in Tri-County

Athletic League play.

In girls singles, Rachell Ordonez (21-4, 21-7); Nasia Okungbowa (21-9, 21-13) and Valeria Guzman (21-3, 21-12) won in two sets.

In boys singles, John Paul Gutierrez won 21-19, 21-19.

In girls doubles, the teams of Rachel Contrers/ Valeria Guzman (21-12, 2112); Jemima Wong/Danica Sebastian (21-10, 21-8) and Chairelle Balmoja/Nasia Okingbowa (21-14, 21-13) all won.

Gutierrez/Ruben Dapikilla teamed up for a 21-16, 21-17 win in boys doubles.

In mixed doubles, the team of Reynard Nevada/ Ordonez won 21-16, 11-21, 20-12.
