Born to William & Emma Simmerson on January 17, 1929, in Detroit Michigan. In 1945 at 16 years old, Lee enlisted in the Navy. His Naval adventures took Lee all over the world. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Lee was a pilot, writer, and boxer. Lee earned numerous certificat­ions in Navel Electronic­s and Engineerin­g. He earned countless certificat­es of achievemen­t all stating what a true leader he was. Lee earned 17 medals and campaign ribbons. 30 years later with the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Lee retired.

Lee was a forever learner. He attended many colleges, in 1976, Lee earned his Master of Arts in Education from Simpson College. And he did not stop there. Lee went on to earn degrees in Philosophy, Theology, and School Counseling.

Lee loved to pass his education on to others. He taught Philosophy, Psychology, and Industrial Arts classes at Solano Community College as well as being the Director of Hilltop School of the Bible. Lee was also an Ordained Minister.

Lee was preceded in death by 2nd wife Elaine in 1994. After 20+ years of friendship, Lee and Kathryn Ward married on December 31, 2019. Lee is survived by his wife Kathryn, step-daughters Jennifer (Jeff) Madden and Amy Townsend, as well as 3 grandchild­ren and 3 great-grandchild­ren.

Services and reception for Lee will be held in the chapel at Skyview Memorial Lawn Tuesday, May 3rd at 1 pm. For those who choose to honor Lee in a special way, we ask that donations be made in his name to The Hill in Vallejo, CA, or your local Veteran’s group.
