After being voted in as the new official city manager of Vallejo, Mike Malone wasted little time in also removing the interim tags of assistant city managers Gillian Hayes and Terrance Davis.

Hayes arrived in the city in 2019 as director of planning and development, and Davis began his time with Vallejo in 2017 as the city's public works director. Both appointments became effective Wednesday.

“In the six months that I have been the Interim city manager, our team has accomplished quite a bit to move the city forward. Now that we have a permanent team at the top, we can really begin to work on creating a strong foundation internally,” said Malone in a news release. “Em

ployee retention and attracting top talent is one of our highest priorities. We can't begin to refine and deliver the best service for the community without staff, so we are starting there.”

Malone also announced the permanent positions of Beth Schoenberger as water director, Melissa Tigbao as public works director and Christina Ratcliffe as planning and development director. Narcissa Wilson will also assume the permanent role of executive assistant to the city manager.

“We will finally be launching into a place of real progress and growth with these solid foundational changes. I have every bit of confidence and faith that there is nowhere from here but up!” Hayes said in a news release.

Davis was also excited to begin his job with the new team.

“Our goals for this community are built on the needs and desires of the people we are here to serve. I am excited for what the future holds, and I am confident that collectively, the community and staff, will make surmountable achievements in the next two years,” said Davis.
