Coatee Butler Jr.

September 18, 1950- April 28, 2022

-

Coatee Butler Jr. was a well-loved and respected father, and member of the community. Born in Huntsville, TX, he attended San Francisco State University and became a school teacher. Mr. Butler, as most know him, taught for the Vallejo Unified School District for two decades.

There wasn’t a day that went by in his young childrens’ lives that they didn’t hear how loved their father was. Current and former students alike would approach him in the street to greet and reminisce with him. They would pass that on in excitement to his children about how the was their “favorite teacher.” Mr. Butler was an exceptionally intelligent man who helped his students in a heartbeat, in and out of school. He was passionate about teaching and loved what he did for a living. He was a great man and should be remembered as such.

He has gained his wings.

There will be a wake on Friday, May 13 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, 524 Capitol St., Vallejo. His funeral will be held there on Saturday, May 14 at 11 a.m.
