Panthers have standouts in DAL finals

The Benicia High School track and field teams had some top individual performanc­es on Saturday at the Diablo Athletic League finals at Campolindo High.

Jean Ikenaga won the discus in the varsity girls division with a final mark of 106 feet, 2 inches. The next highest mark was Campolindo's Pinkie Schnayer (102-8). Ikenaga also was sixth in the shot put (27-11).

Grady Wachob won the high jump (6-0) for the varsity boys. The next highest mark was Trevor Rogers of Acalanes with a 5-10.

The Panthers' 4-by-400 relay team of Donovan Lee, Harrison Hubbard, Simeon Harris and Kasai Cox were second (3:33.21). The 4-by-100 relay team of Hubbard, Harris, Trudell Minniweath­er and Lee were fifth (44.77).

Minniweath­er was fifth in the 100 (11.21) and 200 (22.65). Hubbard was third in the 400 (50.71).

Acalanes won the boys varsity division. Benicia was seventh. Campolindo won the varsity girls division. Benicia was ninth.

Cabot Falkner won the shot (39-6) for the boys. Kendall

Wright of Benicia won the frosh-soph girls high jump (4-7).

Qualifiers advance to a North Coast Section TriValley meet next Saturday at Freedom High.
