St. Pat's grad Martin plays well in a playoff loss for Sac State

The Sacramento State College football team lost to Incarnate Wood 66-63 in FCS Playoff quarterfin­als at Hornet Stadium on Friday night.

Despite the loss, St. Patrick-St. Vincent High graduate Marshel Martin played well as he had 12 catches for 144 yards and scored all three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Martin scored on a 4-yard TD run with 1:43 left, but Incarnate Wood scored the game-winner with 27 seconds left.

Sac State finished the season 12-1 overall.

Martin finishes his junior year with 879 receiving yards, 13 total TDS.

Boys Basketball

Del Oro 54, Vallejo 42

The Vallejo High boys basketball team lost to Del Oro 54-42 on Friday night.

With the loss, Vallejo fell to 4-2 on the season.

Bethel 77, Hercules 59

The Bethel High boys basketball team improved to 6-1 on the year with a 7759 win on Friday night.

The Jaguars took on Freemont on Saturday night.

Girls Basketball

Vallejo 40, Hercules 33

The Vallejo High girls basketball team defeated Hercules on Friday night 40-33.

It was the second straight win for the Redhawks (2-6, 2-1 in the Tri-County Athletic League).

The Redhawks took on John Swett on Saturday afternoon.

Boys Soccer

Benicia 2, Dougherty Valley 1

The Benicia High boys soccer team beat Dougherty Valley on Friday night, 2-1.

Caden Keffer had a goal, while Nicholas Ruiz had a goal and an assist for the Panthers.

With the win Benicia improved to 4-1 on the season. It's next game is Wednesday at home against East Union.

Girls Soccer

Kennedy 4, Vallejo 1

The Vallejo High girls soccer team lost 4-1 on Friday night to Kennedy.

With the loss the Redhawks fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the Tri-County Athletic League.

Inderkum 2, Benicia 0

The Benicia High girls soccer team lost to Inderkum on Friday night, 2-0.

With the loss the Panthers fell to 2-2-1 on the year.
