Gary Rae 70 years young

-

Gary Rae passed away peacefully at home in Anderson on January 15 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Gary was born in Vallejo to Max and Josephine Rae. He graduated from Hogan High School. He had may adventures in his youth and shared those stories for many years. He was a free spirit which got him into trouble at times but never diminished his love of life. He went on to be a successful owner of many Auto Repair businesses in Vallejo and Benicia beginning with Biggies Bug Shop in the early 70's. His last was Olympic Auto Repair in Vallejo. He was a car enthusiast and had too many cars to count over the years with a preference for Porsche's. Gary loved all animals. He had many Great Danes whom he loved very much. The Humane Society in Vallejo and Napa knew who to call when they had a random sheep, goat, pig or goose. He raised many animals on his property in Napa as well as tending to his small vineyard which he took great pride in. He loved to paint on canvas and created many beautiful pieces. He enjoyed traveling to Mexico and Hawaii. He enjoyed his sandrail and riding his Harley Davidson. He loved hosting holiday meals with family and friends. Gary had wonderful friends who stayed in touch with him in his later years and he cherished those connections. We will be forever grateful to them for the compassion and love they showed him. He was also shown love, compassion and respect from all who cared for him at Dignity Health Connected Living, Adult Day Care program in Redding for the last 5 years. He held on to his quick wit and loving spirit until the end of his life.

He will be incredibly missed by his wife of 33 years Laura and his beloved dog Poncho. He is also survived by his sister Pam Rowe (Rod), Nieces Jessica Smith (Kyler), Molly and Lisa. His children Nick Reynolds, Rebecca Golden and Ryan Rae. Stepson Daniel Thiede (Allie). Grandchildren Aiden J., Brady, Jacob and Katelyn.
