Donald Gene Kopp, born April 26, 1932, in Point Marion Pennsylvan­ia, passed after a long illness punctuated by Covid. At the age of twelve, Donald, his mother Blanche, Uncle Bill and Aunt Jenny Horn and their son Billy, jumped on a military train and headed West to the Bay area where Bill gained work at Oakland and Mare Island Naval Shipyards as a Machinist. Donald graduated from Vallejo High in 1950, where he excelled in athletics and was a drummer in the high school band. After that he served four years in the United States Airforce as a Staff Sargent and a jet engine mechanic.

Don and his family settled on Ladera Drive, Vallejo in 1958 and moved away in 1967. During that time, Don formed lifelong friendship­s with his neighbors Chick and Gladys Lawrence and his childhood friend Hank Gerlach's family. Donald became a Sales Representa­tive for Charles Krug Winery for 26 years, and then worked at Wilson Cornelius Ford for fifteen years in Sales where he won Salesman of the month many times. Don retired from Ford and went on to Marshal at Joe Mortara Golf course and worked in the pro shop at Blue Rock Springs Golf course.

Always involved in sports, Don played on St. Basil's softball team with his best friend from childhood Hank Gerlach and for GVRD City League softball and basketball. Don also bowled with great friend Joe Jacques, at Miracle Bowl, Vallejo Bowl, and Kentwig Lanes. Donald served as President of Vallejo Bowling Associatio­n. Don was civically minded and was President of the Vallejo Lions Club in 1981 and 1982. In his later years he enjoyed playing Bocce Ball at the Senior Center for the Bondo Busters with Connie and Dennis Klimisch and his many bocce ball pals.

Don was preceded in death by his son, David Kopp in 2019. He was also preceded by his longtime companion, Karen Safer.

Donald is survived by his ex-wives, Colleen J. Kopp, and Patricia (Carly) Keen. He is also survived by his daughter, Betsy Kopp, five grandchild­ren: Ashleigh, Andru, L.J., Mia, April and one great grandson, Amari. Half siblings, John Kopp, Paula Kopp and Denise (Mellor) Kopp.

Donald always supported his family. Dad's many friends have reached out and this is very appreciate­d. He is loved and will be dearly missed. See you on the other side Pop!

At his request no services will held, and Inurnment will be private.
