Students invited to participate in 3rd Annual Solano Student Art Showcase
The third annual Solano Student Art Showcase by the Solano County Office of Education is set to take place May 20 at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo.
There will be three components to the showcase: a performance arts stage; an art exhibit; and a community health fair with booths and activities hosted by local partners.
Performance artists in kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to enter. Physical artists in fourth through 12th grade may enter their work.
Students are invited to feature their artistic talents such as singing, songwriting, poetry, juggling, comedy, magic, music, dancing, cheerleading, painting, photography and sculpting.
The live event in May will have performances of spoken word, music, dance and theater, as well as a digital display of static art such as painting, drawing, photography and more.
“We are grateful to our community partners for their continued support of Solano students through our art showcase,” said Solano County Superintendent of Schools Lisette EstrellaHenderson in a press statement. “Art not only helps students build skills and creativity, it provides students an outlet for expression, drawing upon their own unique experiences.
“I cannot wait to see our dynamic performers on stage and our talented artists' work on display in this year's exhibit.”
The showcase will provide a space for young artists to promote mental health and wellness, tobacco danger awareness, as well as alcohol and drug prevention.
The free event will allow Solano County students to share their art or performances with audiences live in person and on a livestream.
