You're welcome: Season 3 of `Be My Guest' brings more famous faces

- By Michelle Rose

As the host of the Daytime Emmywinning series “Barefoot Contessa” (2002 to present), Ina Garten is used to welcoming cameras and camera crews and, of course, viewers into her East Hampton home, where she deconstructs recipes and whips up multi-course meals in just 20 (TV) minutes.

But in “Be My Guest With Ina Garten,” the TV chef gets to share the screen with some famous faces. Through two seasons, we’ve seen her welcome “old and new friends” – such as chef Marcus Samuelsson and singer Faith Hill – “into her home for good food, great conversation and lots of fun” (per Food Network), as the Barefoot Contessa and her guest swap life stories and recipes for their signature dishes.

Season 3, which brings a new lineup of celebrity guests, kicked off last Sunday (March 5) with ballerina Misty Copeland. It continues this week, with a new episode airing March 12 on Food

Network and discovery+.

This week’s guest is award-winning actor/director/author/TV presenter Stanley Tucci (“Inside Man”), who arrives at Garten’s home armed with amazing recipes. His visit begins with a martini lesson, and while Garten sips her first-ever martini, Tucci shares his tips for this classic cocktail. Garten serves up some Easy Oysters Rockefeller and the two settle in for a candid talk about “life, love, career” (per Food Network) and their passion for food.

Later, Tucci takes over Garten’s kitchen and makes Cacciucco, a Tuscan seafood stew, before the two enjoy a top-down car ride to Main Beach for some coffee.

Tucci’s appearance on the show is interesting, given that his popular food travel show, CNN’s “Searching for Italy,” was among several programs cut by the Warner Bros. Discoverybacked outlet last December. Aside from projects that were already in development, CNN is now focused on content produced in-house – though “in-house” is pretty broad, considering Discovery Warner Bros. produces tons of original non-fiction programming and documentaries for such outlets as ID and Discovery Channel.

Tucci commented on the cancellation during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” “Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming, so hopefully we’ll end up on another streamer, network, we don’t know,” Tucci said at the time.

In the meantime, don’t miss Tucci’s appearance in the March 12 episode of “Be My Guest With Ina Garten,” airing on Food Network and discovery+.
