Water Awareness Video Contest Deadline Close

Do you take digital media or environmental science classes? The 13th annual Solano County Water Agency Video Contest offers an excellent opportunity to win cash prizes for your efforts, and build your artistic or academic portfolio.

The deadline is a month away, so there's still time to enter the contest. Solano County high school and middle school students and their teachers can submit videos either together as a class or on their own as individual entries. Every entry will be eligible to win the $1,500 prize.

Judges will be looking for original videos that explore the idea that Saving Our Water is Saving Our Future. Winning entries will look at the how and why of water conservation in Solano County, along with practical ideas for everyone to save water every day. The

winning videos will be entertaining and informative and reflective of the local audience.

Prizes for the 2023 contest are set at $1,500 for first place, $1,000 for second place, and $500 for third place. The winning video from each school will be awarded a $100 gift card. The three teachers who generate the most student participation in the contest will each win a $200 gift card.

A panel of water efficiency experts and community leaders will judge entries based on entertainment value and originality; videography, style, and organization; audio/sound; movie content and accuracy; and response to the assigned theme.

Complete information about the 2023 video contest, resources for more water conservation information, samples of past winning videos, and the 2023 entry packet is available at www.scwa2.com/water-efficiency/schools/2020-waterawareness-contest/

Entries can be submitted via e-mail to Education@ solanorcd.org or on a USB flash drive via USPS mail or in person to the Solano Resource Conservation District. All entries must be received by Monday, April 3 at 5 p.m.
