Rebuilding Together at-home safe kits out today
In sponsorship with Wells Fargo and Home Depot, Rebuilding Together Solano County will distribute Disaster Safe At Home Kits dedicated for veterans, active military and other military families in Benicia.
The distribution will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. today at the Benicia Veterans Building, 1150 First St.
Rebuilding Together Solano County will conduct a raffle for grocery gift cards, garden hoses and raised garden boxes.
The kit includes a FirstAid Kit, Hand Crank Radio, LED Flashlight, cell phone charger, fire extinguisher, plug-in night lights, emergency blanket, glow sticks, emergency whistle, hand sanitizer, hand soap, face masks, a set of trash bags and disaster backpack with emergency information. Each kit is valued at $175.
All veteran/military households receiving either a kit are required to provide a driver's license with a Solano County address and a military ID or VA card or DD-214 discharge documentation.
RTSC has provided a
Drive Thru Food Pantry to low-income veterans, seniors and disabled families in Solano County, as well as 16 mobile sites including low-income mobile home parks throughout Solano County, a low-income elementary school and organizations serving the disabled.
RTSC has distributed more than 750,000 pounds of food in the past year as part of Feeding America via the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties.
