Rebuilding Together at-home safe kits out today

In sponsorshi­p with Wells Fargo and Home Depot, Rebuilding Together Solano County will distribute Disaster Safe At Home Kits dedicated for veterans, active military and other military families in Benicia.

The distributi­on will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. today at the Benicia Veterans Building, 1150 First St.

Rebuilding Together Solano County will conduct a raffle for grocery gift cards, garden hoses and raised garden boxes.

The kit includes a FirstAid Kit, Hand Crank Radio, LED Flashlight, cell phone charger, fire extinguish­er, plug-in night lights, emergency blanket, glow sticks, emergency whistle, hand sanitizer, hand soap, face masks, a set of trash bags and disaster backpack with emergency informatio­n. Each kit is valued at $175.

All veteran/military households receiving either a kit are required to provide a driver's license with a Solano County address and a military ID or VA card or DD-214 discharge documentat­ion.

RTSC has provided a

Drive Thru Food Pantry to low-income veterans, seniors and disabled families in Solano County, as well as 16 mobile sites including low-income mobile home parks throughout Solano County, a low-income elementary school and organizati­ons serving the disabled.

RTSC has distribute­d more than 750,000 pounds of food in the past year as part of Feeding America via the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties.
