"Forever in Our Hearts"

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we say our final Good Bye to this amazing man. Our Pops, Daddio, Great Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Friend. Cliff's Assent into Heaven was just a few weeks after celebrating his 97th Birthday with family. His only request on that day was his favorite treat, a chocolate milkshake.

Cliff was a resident of Vallejo for 83 years. He was born in Portland, OR to Clifford Sr and Ilene Marvin. For 2 years, he had a paper route starting at the age of 12. When he was 14, he moved to Vallejo with his family.

The Hanlon Theater was Cliff's first job in Vallejo, making .30 an hour. He loved his job and stayed for 4 years. He attended Vallejo High School, graduating in 1944.

Cliff hoped to one day be an electrician and began as an Electrician's Helper on Mare Island in April of 1944. He was there only 3 months when he decided to enlist in the US Navy. He joined on July 25, 1944. He served on the USS Staunch, a mine sweeper ship. He repaired equipment and cleaned generators used to recharge batteries. He passed his third mate electrical exam. On June 8, 1946, Cliff received an Honorable Discharge as an EM3c.

For about a year after the Navy, he worked at Western Electric as an Installer. In 1947, Cliff went to work at Travis AFB in their warehouse, hoping for an electrical opening, which didn't happen.

The USPS was now to be Cliff's career and he started in 1948 as a Rural Route Carrier. He was with the USPS for 33 years, retiring at the age of 55 in 1981.

Cliff married Juliette in 1950 and welcomed their first child, Deanna in 1951. Two daughters followed, Melanie in 1954 and Shirley in 1959. His family enjoyed many vacations and, in 1962, went to the Seattle World's Fair to see the Space Needle.

In addition to his USPS career, Cliff supplemented his income by owning an ice company and selling insurance to help put his 3 daughters through St Vincent's. He was divorced from Juliette in 1974.

In 1981, Cliff married his 2nd love, Anne. They purchased a motor home, joined the North Bay Rovers & traveled extensively within the US. Two of their favorites were the homes of President Truman in Missouri and President Eisenhower in Kansas. They enjoyed a cruise to Victoria, Vancouver and Alaska. Over the next 15 years, they traveled to many other countries, including Europe, Turkey, Belize, Ecuador, New Zealand, and Australia & took a motor home trek through Switzerland.

Cliff was predeceased by daughter, Deanna in 2004; stepdaughter Jilda, in 2011: brother in Law, Kenneth in 2020; brother in Law, George, in 2021; 1st wife, Juliette in Jan 2022 and sister, Shirline in June 2022.
