Ralph & Sharon Harris 1938-2024 & 1944-2024

-

Ralph and Sharon (Kent) Harris, both first-generation Vallejo natives, went to their eternal rest just weeks apart in late 2023 after long battles with illness.

Sharon was a member of the Vallejo High School class of 1962, and she loved being a part of one of the school’s most active reunion committees and alumni groups. She graduated from the Kaiser Foundation School of Nursing in Oakland in 1965, and then she began her 45-year career at Kaiser Permanente in Vallejo, where she worked as a surgical nurse and developed systems to help the team more easily prepare for surgeries.

Ralph graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer High School in 1957 after attending and being the first to raise the flag at what was a brand new St. Basil’s School. He went to PGA school, which helped him establish a career in golf that lasted more than three decades, first as assistant pro and then head golf pro at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course, where he remained until his retirement. Before his career in golf, Ralph worked for the California Department of Forestry, now Cal Fire, in Ukiah. He remained very proud of that work for the rest of his life.

Ralph and Sharon met in 1962 and dated for 4 years until they were married in 1966. They shared nearly 62 years together, most of that time in Vallejo.

They are survived by their son, Ryan, their Chloe and their great-grandson, Hector.

The family is holding an informal gathering Saturday, February 3rd at Noon at their gravesite under the gazebo at Rockville Cemetery 4219 Suisun Valley Rd, Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or any Vietnam veterans’ organization.
