Ruby Kathleen Kirk (1938-2021)

Ruby Kathleen (Keel) Kirk, a resident of West Memphis, departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, in the comfort of her home at the age of 82.

Ruby was born in Birmingham, Ala., on Dec. 15, 1938, the daughter of Willi Lee and Maudie Kathleen (Barrett) Keel.

Ruby graduated from Crowley’s Ridge Technical Institute in 1977 as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and worked in nursing homes, home health, and in the emergency department of CrossRidge Community Hospital in Wynne. She was a dedicated member of the West Memphis Church of God where she taught Sunday School, baked for bake sales, cooked for meals and assisted with many fundraiser­s. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, especially tending to her roses.

Mrs. Kirk was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne Kirk; her parents; a daughter, Patricia Diane (Kirk) Kanaan; two brothers, Jack and Roy Lee Keel and three sisters, Carolyn Keel, Ann (Keel) ReedFuller, and Barbara ( Keel) Taylor.

She is survived by a son, Richard Wayne Kirk of West Memphis; a daughter, Barbara ( Kirk) McMahand- Gilbert of Cherry Valley; a brother, Charlie Keel and wife, Barbara, of Mississipp­i; six grandchild­ren, Jennifer Miller, Sarah Beth ( McMahand) Pruitt and husband, Michael, Connor Gilbert, Jafar Kanaan, Alantas Kanaan and Yzan Kanaan; two great-grandchild­ren, Parker and Raylan Pruitt; brothers and sisters- in- law, James Taylor, Danny Kirk, Cletus Kirk, Becky Kirk-Tallant, Gary Kirk, Harold Kirk and Diane Kirk; a niece, Bobbie Ann Giersch; her church family and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a. m., on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City with Pastor Sandra Rogers officiatin­g. No visitation is planned.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Connor Gilbert, Charlie Keel, Charlie Keel Jr., Roy Lee Keel Jr., Michael Pruitt and Parker Pruitt.
