Mustangs hold on for win against Yellowjackets.

-

For the fourth time in as many games, the Forrest City Mustangs found themselves living on the edge in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's home game against the visiting Yellowjackets.

Last week, the Mustangs used last-second free throws to sweep Pulaski Robinson before falling to eStem on a buzzer beater field goal.

Unable to hold onto doubledigit cushion leads in the third quarter, the Mustangs ran into trouble in the fourth quarter when Wynne got within one point twice midway through the final frame, falling behind 48-47 and 50-49 with less than five minutes remaining following a missed two pointer and suffering a turnover.

Putting together a 13 to 10 run, the Mustangs pushed their lead back to four points at 53-49 and finally to seven points at 58-51 on the way to securing a 63-59 win, improving to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in the conference.

A long-range Wynne three got the Jackets within four points at 58-54 before Donya Lockett and Lamarion Randle each dropped in two free throws to offset a Wynne three pointer. Randle's rebound of Wynne’s last-second miss nailed down the win.

Kesean Washington led four Mustangs in scoring with 14 points, including four threes, while Melvin Shaw added 13 points and Roberts Echols Jr. and Randle each finished with 11 points.

As a team, the Mustangs struck for seven three pointers and were 24 of 33 from the foul line.

Wynne got 18 points from senior Jonathan Robinson, 12 points from O.J. Marrs and eight from D'marrious Maxwell.

The Yellowjackets nailed five threes and dropped in 10 of 13 free throws.

Both Forrest City teams travel to Stuttgart on Friday.
